The Angels Murphys Arnold Boosters Club Youth Snow Sports program supports the involvement of Calaveras County kids in a range of winter sports activities and helps them build active life-long skills. Now in its forth year, the effort will expand to serve more schools on the Ebbetts Pass corridor as well as funding athlete participation in the competitive team program at Bear Valley Mountain Resort.
This year, '11/12, the program will provide funding for snow experience programs at Bear Valley School, Hazel Fischer Elementary School, Michelson Elementary School, Avery Middle School, Mark Twain Elementary School and Bret Harte High School. Information about the school programs will be distributed through the schools in the fall.
If you'd like more information about the Race, Development, Snow Board Freeride or All Mountain teams at Bear Valley Mountain Resort go to www.bearvalley.com for additional details.

Overview
Bear Valley Mountain’s Team programs provide advanced training for skiers and snowboarders. The team programs are a great way to enjoy your sport by improving your skills in a team environment. The programs are ideally suited for skiers and snowboarders at an intermediate or advanced level; however there are teams that can accommodate those that can successfully navigate a “green” run in a very controlled manner. Regardless of age or ability, all participants must be able to get on and off a chairlift unassisted.
Program Plan
All programs include a comprehensive individual training plan that will focus on developing and improving the skills of each athlete, providing the opportunity for participants to achieve new skills and become a better skier, rider or competitive athlete. Bear Valley’s coaching staff will train all athletes to successfully engage all snow conditions, terrain, and the opportunity to learn about proper gear and safety.
Teams
During the off-season we set out to create a comprehensive program based on customer feedback that would provide an avenue for all athletes to achieve their goals. In 2011/12 you will see a new structure for our team programs which will include modifications to some of our existing teams and the launch of some new teams. What was traditionally thought of as “Devo” has now been extended across a “Competitive” track and an “All Mountain” focus. In addition we are launching new teams that will venture out to the side country and cover various snow safety topics. In summary, there are two basic categories of teams: COMPETITIVE and ALL MOUNTAIN. The COMPETITIVE categories are for Youth only and include competitive traveling teams and development teams. The development teams in the COMPETITIVE category are specifically focused on preparing your athletes for competition but do not travel. The ALL MOUNTAIN teams are development teams for youth and adult athletes that will cover a variety of technical skills, techniques and terrain across the entire mountain, including parks and side country. Please use this guide to help determine which team is right for you or your youth athlete. Dates and times outlined in this document may change throughout the year due to weather and snow conditions.

2011/12 Mini Camps & Nastar Season Pass (Optional Add-ons)
This season Bear Valley is planning a series of events that will give all team participants the opportunity to further enhance their training at a discounted rate. We are working on details for “Mini-camps”, Nastar and spring or summer camps as conditions allow. Camp topics may include slopestyle, skier/boarder cross techniques, side country, snow safety and carving clinics. Discounted Rates will be extended to team members. More information on camp and Nastar coming soon.
